Elden Ring Runes: 13 Safe Spots for Long-Term Grinding

If you've spent any time wandering The Lands Between, you know that not all rune farming spots are created equal. Some are quick bursts of action, others are high-risk, high-reward. But when it comes to long-term grinding—especially for those times when you just want to chill, listen to music, and steadily build your level—what you really want are safe spots.

These 13 areas are ideal for consistent, low-risk rune farming. They’re not necessarily the fastest in the game, but they strike a balance between safety, efficiency, and minimal input. And whether you’re a new Tarnished or a veteran with dozens of hours in, these locations can keep your rune count rising without too many interruptions.

And yes, for those who want to speed things along, you can always buy elden ring runes or browse cheap Elden Ring Items to optimize your builds faster—but for the pure grinders out there, these spots will do the job.

1. Mohgwyn Palace – Albinauric Farm

The most famous farming spot still holds up. Stand above the cliffside near the Dynasty Mausoleum Entrance grace and pick off Albinaurics with ranged attacks. Safe and efficient, especially with a bow or spell.

2. Lennes Rise Boulder Trap

In Caelid, a massive boulder trap rolls toward you when you ride past a particular curve near Lenne’s Rise. Bait it, dodge it, and earn easy runes. Rinse and repeat—no combat required.

3. War-Dead Catacombs

Post-Radahn, this dungeon features ghost enemies fighting each other. You can stand back and collect runes while they battle. Intervene only if you want to clean up the last survivors.

4. Altus Plateau – Windmill Village Base

The celebrants are weak and barely aggressive. With a sweeping weapon or AoE spell, you can take them out in groups with little resistance. Respawn at the nearby Site of Grace and repeat.

5. Liurnia – Raya Lucaria Soldiers

Just outside the Academy Gate Town, these soldiers patrol in predictable routes and are easy to pick off one by one. Great for lower levels looking for safe early gains.

6. Sealed Tunnel Specters

Enemies here drop decent runes and come in manageable waves. Stay behind corners and use magic or ranged attacks to reduce risk.

7. Caria Manor Lower Grounds

After clearing the manor, head to the southern edge where spectral soldiers appear. Their spawn patterns make them easy to predict, and the area is relatively isolated.

8. Mountaintops of the Giants – Freezing Lake Trees

Various beasts and birds linger in predictable places among the trees. Use ranged weapons or sorcery and pull them individually for quick, repeatable gains.

9. Limgrave – Gatefront Soldiers

If you're just starting out, the Gatefront area provides an endless loop of easy enemies. They’re slow, spread out, and perfect for early rune farming.

10. Stormveil Cliff Underside

Just before entering the castle, you can drop down to a series of enemies that are strong in numbers but easy to kite. With a bow or stealth approach, it's a great low-risk grind.

11. Siofra River Ghost Miners

These spectral workers in the riverbed don't react much until you're very close. Clear them with AoE damage and loop the route to rack up decent runes without much effort.

12. Night’s Cavalry Route Farming

Once you’re strong enough, use nighttime to your advantage. Set a route between known Cavalry spawn points and pick them off with stealth or ranged damage. The fights are avoidable if necessary, and the environment stays calm.

13. Academy Crystal Cave

Crystal enemies in this cave move slowly and have predictable attacks. Use magic or strike weapons, and you can take them down one by one from a safe distance. There's also a useful reward at the end of this dungeon, making it doubly worth your time.

Each of these spots gives you a chance to earn Elden Ring Runes at your own pace, with minimal danger. Some are best for early game, others for the high-level player who wants passive income while planning their next major challenge. Whichever route you take, it’s always satisfying to see that rune counter tick upward.

And when the grind starts to wear thin, remember that you can always buy elden ring runes or pick up cheap Elden Ring Items to skip ahead—just in case you’d rather spend your time exploring rather than farming.
