Aims and Objectives
FoodCycle is a charity organisation that aims to reduce food waste and tackle food poverty by collecting surplus food from various sources, such as supermarkets and restaurants, and transforming it into nutritious meals.
History and Background
FoodCycle was founded in 2009 passionate about tackling food waste and food poverty. The idea is to create sustainable solutions around surplus food. Then providing this food as a three course meal for free to those who need support.
Activities and Projects
We have two Sunderland Projects, Ashbrooke URC which runs on a Tuesday lunchtime at 12.30pm and Grindon Community Church, Galway Road which runs on Thursday evenings at 6.30pm, where we serve a free three course meal for anyone who wishes to come along, not need to book, you just turn up.
